What is Alga Snak?
Alga Snak is a seaweed chicharron, the vegan version of the traditional pork rinds or cracklings. It is sold as dry pasta and ready to cook.

What's in it?
This delicious seaweed snack is naturally vegan and has only five ingredients: a unique mix of brown seaweeds, whole wheat, sea salt, baking soda (as a leavening agent) and maize flour (as a thickening agent). Simple as that. 

Our seaweed is harvested sustainably in the clean and controlled waters of northern Baja California. Same goes for our sea salt.

What about the flavor?
You won’t taste the seaweed in this puffy and crunchy snack. It has a neutral, and unique flavor that goes well by itself or with any dips, salsas, guacamole, etc.

The texture of Alga Snak is very similar to the traditional pork cracklings.

Shelf Life?
Dry pasta: up to two years. Just make sure you keep it in a tightly sealed container and in a cool, dry place.

How do I cook it?
It is very easy!

Select a healthy oil of your choice with a high smoke point. We recommend avocado, extra light olive oil or rice bran oils because they have a high smoke point and they are rich in vitamin E and monounsaturated fatty acids, including Omega-9.

Pour the oil (between 1/4" and 3/8" in depth) in a large pan and heat it to 375 °F.

Cook in small batches. Add a fistful of pasta to the pan, and submerge them in the oil, using a spider/skimmer. The pasta will start to puff immediately! Quickly but carefully, move the pasta around a little making sure there are no uncooked areas. The chicharrones will be ready when they are all puffed and tan in color. Don't overcook - remove rapidly and place them on a stack of paper towels.

Let them cool a bit and enjoy with your favorite dip, salsa, add drops of lime or just by themselves!
